The buildings create a place with a clear centre of gravity, identity and memorability within the surrounding loose 1960s housing structure.
Individual houses are carefully sited and shaped to create public and semi-public spaces between them. These are visually enclosed as they pass through and open onto internal piazzas with shops and cafes or community spaces with abundant urban greenery and clusters of activities for children, sports-loving youth or benches for sitting and relaxing. The development also respects the current use of the area, the roads are based on already beaten paths in the green...
The location of student housing with a one-way oriented corridor will also help to screen the facade of the neighbouring Kaufland. It is envisaged that the boundary space between the two buildings will be shared, with its completion by a creative student subculture.
