Area: 1801 m2
The hall is located between an area with existing sports facilities and nearby urban development in an area without a clear urban character. The odd-shaped ground plan was derived from the shape of the land, the utility lines and the desire to preserve the mature birch trees. Pedestrian walkways converge in a ray-like fashion from the directions of pedestrian movements to the main entrance, forming an imaginary branch inspired by the avenue of mature fir trees along Svojsíkova Street.
The building consists of three masses. A brick base from which two masses grow, responding to the surrounding buildings. The smaller mass of the universal hall made of polycarbonate is oriented towards the city and its smaller scale responds to the nearby development of townhouses. At night it is lit up and becomes a landmark, a beacon of the sports complex visible from the city. The larger metal mass of the hall itself is positioned towards the arched hall of the ice rink.
